Position Overview

SUMMARY OF ROLE

Integrative Health is an emerging and rapidly expanding sector within the Integrative Emergency Services ("IES") framework. IES is committed to establishing best practices in emergency medical care, delivering comprehensive acute care services, and enhancing value while supporting patients, staff, clients, providers, and physicians in achieving the highest standards of healthcare.

We are currently seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for our Primary Care Clinic. The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will undertake both administrative and clinical responsibilities under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional. The CMA is responsible for preparing patients for their consultations by reviewing medical histories and reconciling medications. Responsibilities may include collecting blood and/or urine samples, conducting diagnostic tests, measuring vital signs, and performing other clinical tasks within the limits of their certification. Ideal candidates will thrive in a collaborative environment and demonstrate empathy towards patients' needs and concerns.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare patients for examinations by recording vital signs and updating health information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Review patients' medication histories.
  • Set up examination rooms with the necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations, tests, and procedures as needed.
  • Administer injections as directed by the healthcare provider.
  • Ensure proper sterilization of medical equipment.
  • Monitor clinical supply levels and manage ordering and restocking as necessary.
  • Schedule patient appointments and handle incoming phone inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and enter data into the EMR.
  • Ensure all patient forms are completed and documented correctly in the EMR.
  • Adhere to compliance standards set by Medicare, Medicaid, OSHA, HIPAA, OIG, and other legal obligations.
  • Perform additional front office duties as required by operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Competencies: To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to present information clearly and respond to inquiries from patients and staff.
  • Familiarity with basic office software, medical practice management systems, and electronic medical records.
  • Fluency in English.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The following qualifications are preferred:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in a medical office setting.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid certification as a Medical Assistant.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands for this position include:

  • Ability to see at various distances and adjust focus as needed.
  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly.
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands for various tasks.
  • Capability to perform typical office activities, including prolonged periods of sitting for computer work and lifting office supplies.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of items weighing up to 20-25 pounds.
  • Fine motor skills for tasks such as typing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The characteristics of the work environment include:

  • Medical office setting.
  • Generally low noise levels.
