Solar Installation Team Lead Job Description

Purelight Power is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solar Installation Team Lead to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing and leading our solar installation crews to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage solar installation crews to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with our construction manager to review employee performance, compensation, and corrective action for installation crews.
  • Train new installers on solar installation practices and safety standards.
  • Review projects before installation to identify potential issues and mitigate risks.
  • Work on rooftops, ladders, crawlspaces, attics, and other residential and commercial areas to ensure safe and efficient installation.
  • Implement quality control checks with each installation crew to ensure high-quality workmanship.
  • Interact with clients in a professional and respectful manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Accurately upload project information to our CRM system.
  • Stay up-to-date with code requirements and system installation best practices.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, as well as OSHA safety regulations.
Requirements:
  • Extensive knowledge of solar equipment and installation practices.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops safely.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and maintain a safe working environment.
  • High attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Management or leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with roof work and general carpentry preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a solar installer or in the solar industry.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a lead installer.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops up to a 45-degree pitch.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
Required Tools and Equipment:
  • Personal hand tools, including a screwdriver set or multi-tool, wire strippers, diagonal wire cutters, impact-rated socket set, socket adapter, tool belt, bag, or backpack.
  • Weather-appropriate attire with at least one piece of Purelight Power Company apparel worn at all times when on the clock.
  • Weather and job-appropriate footwear.
Supplied Tools and Equipment:
  • Safety harness and rope with rope grab and shock absorber.
  • Fall protection anchors and devices.
  • Power tools, including an impact driver, drill, and circular/reciprocating saw.
  • iPad and/or MacBook Air.
