Part-Time Juvenile Detention Counselor

Job Summary:

This is an hourly paid position that provides structured cognitive behavioral and/or life-skills group counseling sessions, documents all programmatic activities, and performs various administrative duties to facilitate juvenile rehabilitation and ensure a safe and secure environment at a youth detention or long-term facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of all programs and case management services.
  • Work with program staff to ensure services are in line with best practices and departmental policy.
  • Provide structured cognitive behavioral and/or life-skills group counseling sessions, document all programmatic activities, and perform various administrative duties to facilitate juvenile rehabilitation and ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Conduct rounds daily on the living unit to ensure youth needs are identified and addressed.
  • Provide evening and weekend coverage to meet the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of youth.
  • Perform or direct admission and orientation of youth in accordance with policy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field, such as Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or Criminal Justice.
  • Preference given to applicants with a Master's degree or relevant experience working with juvenile offenders or families in a social work setting.
