Position Overview

We are seeking a Lead Revenue Accountant to become a vital member of our Accounting Team at Anthropic.

In this capacity, you will oversee revenue accounting functions and reporting, along with various special projects as they emerge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely billing for customers, implementing appropriate internal controls to uphold precision in revenue recognition.
  • Conduct month-end closing activities, including reconciliations and roll forwards in Accounts Receivable, Revenue, and Deferred Revenue.
  • Prepare flux analysis and operational metrics for monthly and quarterly reports, presenting findings to management.
  • Support routine billing processes and the launch of new products.
  • Enhance and automate billing and collections workflows, including the establishment of operational KPIs for the team.
  • Assist in maintaining the billing infrastructure and integrations.
  • Work collaboratively to promote data-driven decisions across Financial Planning & Analysis, Go-To-Market, and Operations.
Ideal Candidate Profile

You may be an excellent fit if you possess:
  • A minimum of 4 years of accounting experience, ideally in startup or high-growth settings, with at least 2 years in a public company.
  • Familiarity with sales processes and ASC 606.
  • A proven track record of meeting deadlines while maintaining high-quality work.
  • Comfort in navigating ambiguity and working with minimal oversight.
  • Proactive approach to applying your knowledge of processes and systems, recommending thoughtful enhancements.
  • Understanding of change implementation and the ability to foresee its impacts, ensuring accuracy from the outset.
Preferred Qualifications

Strong candidates may also:
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation is preferred.
  • Be proficient in NetSuite, Stripe, Anrok, or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Exhibit a strong attention to detail and a commitment to precision.
  • Be a self-motivated individual capable of working independently.
Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this role is:
$190,000 — $190,000 USD

We have a hybrid work policy, expecting all staff to be present in our offices at least 25% of the time.

US Visa Sponsorship

We do provide visa sponsorship; however, not all roles and candidates can be supported. Operations roles are particularly challenging in this regard.
