We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse Specialist to join our team at Atrium Health Charlotte. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the pediatric hematology/oncology unit. This position is ideal for a dedicated and compassionate RN who is committed to making a difference in the lives of our patients and families. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized plans of care that meet the unique needs of each patient. Your expertise and knowledge in pediatric hematology/oncology will enable you to provide expert guidance and support to colleagues and patients alike.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Providing direct patient care to children and adolescents with various hematological and oncological diagnoses.
2. Collaborating with other healthcare providers to coordinate and implement treatment plans, as well as participate in rounds and meetings to discuss patient progress and outcomes.
3. Developing and implementing individualized plans of care that address the unique needs of each patient, including those related to their medical condition, family dynamics, and social determinants of health.
4. Providing education and support to patients and their families, addressing their concerns, and promoting adherence to treatment plans and recommendations.
5. Participating in quality improvement initiatives and contributing to the development of policies and procedures related to patient care and safety.
Requirements
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must possess the following qualifications:
1. Graduate degree in Nursing (BSN or higher) from an accredited institution.
2. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina (or eligible).
3. 2+ years of experience in pediatric hematology/oncology nursing (or related field).
4. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
5. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse groups of stakeholders.
7. Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMRs) and other clinical software systems.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions in complex situations.
