Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement PLC control systems and operator interfaces for both large-scale and smaller projects. Establish, maintain, and back up industrial network infrastructure and data collection systems.
  • Support the engineering team in upholding standards related to PLC programming, HMI designs, electrical schematics, communication protocols, data collection, and equipment standardization.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and preventive maintenance tasks efficiently with fellow engineers to enhance operational uptime. Advocate for and utilize the Enterprise Asset Management System by adhering to all Infor EAM protocols.
  • Foster a safe and organized working environment by adhering to cleanliness protocols. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and promptly inform management and engineering staff of any potential electrical or mechanical hazards. Participate actively in safety and staff meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Significant hands-on experience in PLC programming, including new designs and installation startups, with a solid understanding of interfacing PLCs with AC/DC drives, sensors, instrumentation, barcode readers, and HMIs.
  • Proficient in programming and replacing various operator interfaces such as PanelView and Red Lion.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of drive parameters and their application on the production floor, including motor nameplate data entry, control methods, dynamic braking, and drive tuning.
  • Ability to develop advanced HMI applications that go beyond basic functions, including the use of parameter files and macros.
  • Extensive experience with control networking technologies such as Device Net, Ethernet/IP, and RS232.
  • Capability to troubleshoot multi-PLC communication across different PLC classes.
  • Familiarity with communication software and various Microsoft operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of network troubleshooting tools and Ethernet managed switches in a control environment.
  • Experience with SCADA systems for plant floor data collection.
  • Competence in writing basic SQL queries within Excel.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc Robot programming and PID loop implementation.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of an associate degree or at least 6 years of relevant experience in programming and equipment installation.
  • Training in PLC, HMI, and related technologies.
  • Strong foundation in industrial communication systems.
  • Experience with operating systems and industrial applications on Microsoft platforms.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and experience in Client/Server architecture is advantageous.

Certifications:

  • RS Logic 500 and RS Logix 5000 Programming Certifications
  • Fanuc Handling Tool or Pallet Tool Certification
  • RS View Supervisory Edition Certification
