Insight Global is actively seeking a Shipfitter to support one of our prominent shipbuilding partners. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity and functionality of naval and commercial vessels.
The successful candidate will utilize their ship fitting expertise to perform essential repairs on various types of ships, including those belonging to the US Navy and US Coast Guard. This is a fully on-site position that requires physical capability, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
Key Responsibilities- Measure, cut, and remove steel and aluminum components, ensuring precise fabrication and reinstallation to meet welding specifications.
- Assist welders by tack welding metal parts securely in place.
- Inspect work pieces for quality assurance, utilizing straightedges or templates to confirm adherence to specifications.
- Dismantle metal assemblies or process scrap metal using thermal cutting tools, such as flame cutting torches or plasma arc equipment.

Qualifications- Minimum of 3 years of welding experience.
- Proven experience in structural repairs involving steel and aluminum.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a MIL STD 248D certification test.
- Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and regulations from bodies such as the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG).
