Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Driver to join our team at I Halper Paper & Supplies Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a delivery vehicle, following designated routes to deliver products to customers in a timely and organized manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a box truck, driving various routes during business hours to deliver products to customers
  • Load and unload products from the truck using hand trucks, pallet jacks, and fold-downs
  • Follow specific delivery routes and time schedules to meet or exceed delivery deadlines
  • Respond to back-calls and pick-ups from vendors or customers as needed
  • Maintain professional and courteous interactions with customer contacts at each delivery site
  • Collect payments from customers and record invoices
  • Understand and comply with DOT regulations and company Driver Safety Manual
  • Complete driver medical certification every two years
  • Handle products with care to avoid damages and loss
  • Take initiative to accomplish open tasks and seek additional work when available
  • Maintain positive work relations and support team work
  • Listen and communicate respectfully with employees at all levels
  • Attend work regularly and follow call-out and time-off procedures

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license, minimum of Class D
  • Acceptable driving record as defined by our insurance policy
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Time management and ability to handle multiple demands
  • Dependability and punctuality
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work as a delivery driver of a 24-ft commercial box truck
  • Experience driving a box truck in New Jersey, New York City, and the outer-boroughs

Work Environment

This job operates in a delivery vehicle traveling on major roadways in multiple cities and states. The role is exposed to outdoor elements such as weather and requires the use of hand trucks, pallet jacks, and fold-downs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Days of work are Monday through Friday, with hours beginning at approximately 5:00 a.m. and ending when deliveries or pick-ups are completed.

Travel

Travel includes daily driving of a delivery vehicle on designated routes throughout various cities and states.
