Deputy Director

The San Diego State University Research Foundation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Director to join our team. As a key member of our Prevention Research Center, you will play a critical role in the overall day-to-day conduct of the center, supporting longer-term strategic priorities, and ensuring the achievement of all milestones.

• Center Coordination and Oversight: 70%
  • Develop and maintain budgets, plan and track expenses, procure supplies, coordinate payment to partners, subcontractors, and vendors, as well as coordinate travel, prepare documentation and requests as necessary to implement center activities.
  • Prepare cost estimates/analyses and reconcile budgets and projections.
  • Secure space, coordinate hospitality, communicate with meeting and event leaders, venues, and attendees, and confirm that all invoices are paid.
  • Coordinate, plan, and execute project events, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings, focus groups, and community gatherings.
• Research Project Coordination: 20%
  • Monitor progress of deadlines according to project milestones, assure compliance with all federal reporting requirements, complete IRB amendments and reports, and confirm that the study and all components are in compliance.
  • Work with team members to oversee research and outreach logistics, including data collection, program implementation, etc.
  • Oversee the quality of incoming data and processes for reporting results to stakeholders, identify potential problems, and follow up on quality issues with field staff.
• PRC Network Coordination: 10%
  • Ensure that the PRC is engaging productively with the larger national PRC network.
  • Responsibilities in this area include, but are not limited to, ongoing communication with network partners, planning and implementing conference calls, meetings, working groups, and conferences, developing and sharing best practices and policy recommendations, sharing research findings at national meetings, and building and supporting partnerships within the larger PRC network.

• Equivalent to a Bachelors degree in the appropriate field related to the program/project
• Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in an office or administrative environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Public Health, Implementation Science, or related field
• 2+ years experience in community-partnered research/outreach with knowledge of Imperial Valley partners and stakeholders
• Experience supervising/delegating work and managing grant-funded projects
• Spanish/English bilingual
