Job Title: Engineer-I EV Battery System Research and Development

Our team at Hyundai America Technical Center (HATCI) is seeking an Engineer-I to join our Advanced Engineering Lab (AEL) team. The AEL team focuses on advanced technology research and development that can be applied to current and future production vehicles and future mobility.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Engineer-I to join our EV Battery System Research and Development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing new technologies, strategies, and methods for high voltage battery systems of current and future Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis production hybrid and battery electric vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement new technologies, strategies, and methods for high voltage battery systems
  • Support North American electric vehicle plant including localized production parts verification and technical support
  • Local response to EV quality issues in NA such as quality data acquisition, root cause analysis, improvement verification
  • Feasibility analysis of new battery system technologies through simulation, lab tests, and on-road evaluations
  • Introduction of selected battery technologies to current or next gen productions through active communications with Korean R&D Headquarter production programs
  • Research activities with external partners including national labs, universities, and tech suppliers
  • Investigation of industry trend in the area through benchmarking competitors' systems & vehicles, application of the information to development directions and performance target settings
Requirements:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or other related fields
  • 0+ years of automotive engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially with others with the highest standards of integrity
  • Must be able to work with many different departments within HATCI and with its affiliates (e.g., Korea R&D Center, Hyundai Motor North America, Kia US, etc.) with a demonstrated ability to create relationships and facilitate work across company functions
