This role involves providing trauma assessments and ongoing therapeutic support for adolescents facing challenges related to PTSD, developmental trauma, and other adverse experiences. Many clients may also be involved or at risk of involvement in the juvenile justice system. The counselor will be proficient in trauma-specific interventions, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver trauma-informed mental health services, including trauma assessments, emotion regulation groups, and individual therapy.
- Create customized treatment plans tailored to clients' objectives and needs.
- Employ various evidence-based trauma-focused therapeutic methods and emotion regulation strategies.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of trauma-focused interventions in accordance with agency protocols.
- Integrate trauma-informed care principles in all activities.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and collaborative meetings with community partners as required.
- Collaborate closely with therapeutic services and multidisciplinary team members to identify client needs and their support systems.
- Address personal recovery matters in alignment with the agency's recovery approach.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Current State of Michigan license as a Social Worker (LLMSW/LMSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC/LPC). Recent graduates must apply for licensure within 30 days of hire.
- A minimum of 2 years of direct clinical experience working with adolescents.
- Experience utilizing evidence-based trauma-focused therapeutic modalities.
- Successful completion of agency background checks and screenings.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform manual tasks requiring dexterity for data entry and retrieval using computer systems and office equipment.
- Capability to lift and transport materials/supplies weighing up to 25 lbs. for documentation, court support, and administrative tasks.
