The Referral Coordinator is a critical role in our team, responsible for obtaining pre-certifications, pre-authorizations, and referrals for patients seeking specialty care. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Screening referrals for coverage, appropriateness, and medical necessity
- Obtaining pre-certifications and pre-authorizations as needed
- Receiving and processing specialty referrals and authorizations
- Entering referral information into our practice management system
- Providing excellent customer service to patients, office staff, and providers
Preferred qualifications include formal training and 1 or more years of experience working in a healthcare setting. Knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance plans is also essential.
