The State of Oregon is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Correctional Officer to join our team at the Oregon Department of Corrections. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining order and ensuring the safety and security of adults in custody.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce rules and regulations within the institution
- Provide care and supervision to adults in custody
- Monitor activities and work assignments
- Conduct cell checks and searches for contraband
- Settle disputes and enforce discipline
- Observe, inspect, and report on safety, sanitary, and fire hazards
- High school diploma or GED
- 21 years of age or older
- United States citizen
- Meet reading comprehension, report writing, and retention abilities
- Satisfactorily complete an ODOC background investigation
- Pass NTN test with a minimum score of 70 percent in all areas
- Good employee work history
- History of law-abiding behavior
- Pass a psychological evaluation and risk assessment
- No evidence of substance abuse
- Proficient using computers
- Valid driver's license
- Medical, dental, vision, and basic employee life coverage through PEBB
- Retirement benefits through PERS
- Paid vacation leave and sick leave
- Wage increases in accordance with the applicable labor contract
- Pass the Correctional Officer test with a score of 70 percent or higher in all areas
- Submit a Workday online application
- DOC will review and process the application
- Personal Information, Relatives, Education, Residence History, Employment History, Personal References, Law Enforcement Applications, Military, Legal, Drug Use, Motor Vehicles, and Other Topics will be reviewed
- Preliminary Assessment Interview
- Background investigation
- Meet and greet with the institution
- Conditional offer and medical exam
