Job Summary

Catholic Health Service is seeking a skilled Central Sterile Technician to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Central Sterile Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by processing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize reusable instrumentation and equipment according to established department policies and procedures.
  • Retrieve used trays, instruments, and equipment from various surgical and clinical hospital areas for decontamination.
  • Examine instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality.
  • Identify malfunctioning items, record related information, and promptly notify supervisor or biomedical engineer.
  • Communicate with perioperative staff regarding related instrument needs.
  • Transport sterile supplies to assigned surgical and clinical locations.
  • Assist in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels.
  • Perform required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment.
  • Document and maintain records of daily activities according to department policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to AORN, AAMI, and Joint Commission standards in the performance of duties.
Requirements
  • Prior experience processing surgical instruments/Central Sterile experience preferred.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certification: CRCST required.
