About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Echo Sonographer I to join our team at Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital. As a key member of our cardiovascular team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine echocardiograms, including transthoracic echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, and stress echocardiograms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data using different systems of ultrasound equipment.
  • Transmit exams to compatible DICOM storage applications and process preliminary technical data in designated interpreting systems.
  • Communicate significant findings to attending reading physicians and provide direct assistance to physicians and other healthcare team members during cardiac echo studies.
  • Identify and recognize cardiac structures accurately, including calculating valve area, pressure gradients, and ejection fraction.
  • Maintain proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practice aseptic techniques, and ensure compliance with infection control procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s).
  • Successful completion of a clinical rotation in a cardiovascular echo sonography program or six months of cardiac sonographer experience, including on-the-job training in echocardiograms.
  • Licenses and certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) or equivalent.
