The organization's political director plays a pivotal role in leading electoral and issue campaigns from the national headquarters.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Campaign Strategy and Leadership: Oversee all aspects of campaign planning and implementation, including research, assessment, and analysis. Work with cross-functional teams to develop canvass raps and questions for campaign execution.
  • Conduct outreach activities and support programmatic teams as needed. Develop and produce campaign materials to facilitate effective communication.
  • Collaborate with various departments to implement and execute new campaigns, ensuring seamless coordination among stakeholders.

Partnership Development and Management

  • Develop and manage relationships with stakeholders, representing the organization in political spaces. Foster partnerships to advance organizational goals.

Staff and Program Management

  • Effectively recommend hiring, promoting, discharging, disciplining, managing work, and evaluating Political staff. Manage vendor relationships as needed.
  • Work closely with National Campaigns Director and National Field Director to deploy digital and mail tactics in 100-150 elections per cycle. Manage program and campaign outreach for up to 2,000 canvass organizers.

Research, Analysis, and Problem-Solving

  • Develop and implement in-cycle clinical experiments with digital, analytics, political, and programmatic teams. Conduct ongoing analysis to improve campaign design and execution.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate critical analysis, effective communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Participate in regular iteration, explanation, and refinement of campaign work. Acquire new insights from quantitative and qualitative information to apply measurable results to the program.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience managing electoral campaigns or political programs.
  • Advanced user knowledge of NGP VAN, Catalist, and other data platforms and tools.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with labor movement and progressive infrastructure structures.
  • Experience working with at least two legal structures (hard side party, c3, etc.).
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain diverse stakeholder relationships and navigate partner relationships.
  • Excellent problem-solving and relational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly as needed.
  • Must be able to work irregular and long hours.

Location and Benefits

  • Washington, DC-based position, with remote work options available. Starting salary is $137,499, including medical insurance and 401(k) with employer contribution.
