Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian/Janitor to join our team in the Meat Room. As a key member of our cleaning team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the meat room of the commissary/grocery store.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize meat processing equipment (slicers, grinders, saws, cutting boards) to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety.
  • Keep meat preparation and storage areas clean and organized to meet health and safety standards.
  • Properly dispose of meat trimmings and waste materials, following disposal regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain refrigeration equipment to ensure meat products are stored at the right temperatures to prevent spoilage.
  • Restock cleaning supplies, sanitizers, and personal protective equipment (PPE) for meat department employees.
  • Assist butchers as needed, including moving meat products and preparing packaging materials.
  • Clean tools and surfaces used by butchers.
  • Clean and maintain meat display cases to ensure products look attractive to customers.
  • Follow food safety guidelines, including proper handwashing, glove use, and sanitation practices.
  • Inspect meat products for quality and freshness, reporting any issues to supervisors.
  • Communicate effectively with meat department staff and store management about cleaning schedules, supply needs, and sanitation concerns.
  • Maintain cleaning and sanitation records as required by food safety regulations.
  • Follow store policies and procedures related to cleanliness, safety, and hygiene.
Requirements
  • No experience required.
Physical Demands
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, grab, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk the entire shift.
