At the Women's Home, we are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in providing nutritious meals to our residents.

Salary: $17-$19 Hourly

The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial kitchens and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. You will be responsible for preparing one to two meals per day, following a dietician-approved menu plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchase food and supplies according to agency guidelines and approved menus
  • Ensure food service compliance with various standards, including City of Houston and Texas Department of State Health Services
  • Provide training to residents and Residential Supervisors on kitchen safety procedures and food handling
  • Prepare therapeutic meals as needed and maintain a two-week supply of food
  • Attend and participate in agency trainings, conferences, and residential staff meetings as needed

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and willingness to drive an agency vehicle
  • Food Management Certificate and Food Handler's certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • City of Houston Food Dealer's Permit required
  • Experience in commercial kitchens required
