Position Overview:
The Environmental Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives. You will be engaged in daily operations, enhancing processes to align with corporate environmental strategies, and collaborating across departments to meet compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the collection of environmental compliance data (air, wastewater, hazardous materials) to adhere to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Evaluate the organization's environmental performance through data collection, measurement, and analysis.
- Stay informed about changes to environmental regulations and policies at all levels.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement systems that support global sustainability goals.
- Communicate with key stakeholders regarding the organization's environmental performance and compliance status.
- Oversee compliance management through an online dashboard system, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Engage with regulatory agencies and consultants during audits and collaborate with teams to address findings.
- Lead the development and implementation of EH&S systems, including program documentation and training materials.
- Support emergency response efforts and investigations related to chemical spills/releases and workplace incidents.
- Assist in preparing reports on accidents, incidents, and near-misses, working with teams to identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Promote safe chemical usage and equipment operation through risk management practices.
- Deliver safety training on various health and safety topics.
- Contribute to health and safety programs through industrial hygiene studies and safety inspections.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health, safety, or a related engineering field.
- 3-5 years of relevant EHS experience, ideally in a chemical or electronics environment.
- Strong knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, including EPA, MADEP, and OSHA.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies on compliance matters.
- Ability to research changes in environmental regulations and gather necessary data for compliance.
- Experience with Air, Source Registration, Tier II, and TURA reporting.
- Training in chemical emergency response, HAZMAT, and first aid.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with hazardous materials processing regulations and permitting.
- Understanding of ISO standards, particularly ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 9001.
- Knowledge of chemical hazards and risk assessment techniques.
