Job Summary

Praxair is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team. As a Project Engineer, you will act as the technical liaison between disciplines and the project manager, coordinating all technical disciplines and ensuring that all technical scope within the project is completed according to contract specification.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate internal and external engineering activities and interdisciplinary interfaces in close coordination with discipline team leaders.
• Ensure technical requirements defined in the scope of work are properly incorporated in the engineering deliverables.
• Manage and facilitate communication across the engineering functions to ensure that the project objectives are met, and drive issues to successful conclusion.
• Coordinate and lead Design Reviews with assistance from discipline team leads.
• Compile technical documents and information in support of the Job Change Notice process.
• Coordinate technical claims and issues.
• Provide liaison services between engineering and construction, including review of scope documents.
• Attend bid conferences or bid walks for major subcontracts on assigned projects.
• Support bid review and scope compliance analysis of subcontractor proposals.
• Participate in project validation meetings at proposal handover from Praxair Engineering, when appropriate.
• Support Construction and Fabrication by providing resolutions of RFI's.
• Review and provide input on P&IDs.
• Maintain Equipment List and Quantity Tracking Matrix (QTM).
• Coordinate the assembly of all Construction Bid Package documents, in collaboration with construction engineering, for project construction subcontracts.
• Perform Shop checkouts before shipment.
• Assist the Commissioning Manager or Project Manager with field commissioning and start-up.

Requirements

• BS in engineering, BSME or BSChE preferred.
• Five years engineering experience, at least one year of which shall have been accrued working as an engineer in a process-oriented, E/C company or in an operating company with project engineering duties.
• Possess a broad understanding of the major design engineering disciplines, i.e., Piping, Equipment, Process, Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, and Electrical.
• Basic understanding of continuous flow chemical/physical processes typical of hydrocarbon processing, hydrogen production, and/or air separation.
• Effective leadership skills.
• Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software, Lotus Notes, and other Company and discipline-specific software applications.
• Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Project Management Professional accreditation preferred.
• Willing and able to travel (Approximately 40%).
• Extended travel may be required during certain phases of the project (i.e. HAZOP Review, Commissioning/Start-up, etc.).
