Job Summary

This position is part of the Maintenance team at GAF. The primary responsibility of a Maintenance Technician is to evaluate, repair, and replace materials, products, and components for conformance to specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all safety procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to company standards.
  • Detect and report faulty operations, defective materials, and equipment issues to teammates and supervisors.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to transmit and exchange information related to work activities.
  • Operate machines and equipment in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Communicate quality and machine problems to supervisors, team members, and maintenance personnel.
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment to minimize operational downtime.
  • Conduct Preventative Maintenance procedures to ensure the essential care, maintenance, and operation of equipment.
  • Record essential data onto Preventative Maintenance work orders and Down Day work orders.
  • Verify component information, specifications, and location before installation.
  • Read instructions, prints, manuals, and written procedural instructions.
  • Safely and professionally utilize hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, electrical instrumentation, and forklifts.
  • Work on pipe systems, including repairing, modifying, and installing systems.
  • Perform all phases of welding, including MIG, TIG, and Rod.
  • Use cutting torches and bronze with torches.
  • Perform millwright work, including aligning pumps and motors, installing sheaves and belts, and checking installation for square and belt tension.
  • Remove and install bearings and perform all maintenance work required on bearings.
  • Work with predictive technologies to improve operations.
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure that all equipment has been tested and is working in a safe manner and with satisfying results.
  • Maintain tools and test equipment to ensure plant electrical systems are functioning properly.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records, including Maximo, storeroom, calibration, and drawings.
  • Assist supervision in designing new equipment and replacement equipment to enhance plant electrical systems.
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance and Down Day work orders with precision, ensuring all components are verified for proper operation prior to startup.
  • Work in conjunction with Operations to ensure that all equipment has been tested and is working in a safe manner and with satisfying results.
  • Work scheduled shifts and overtime as assigned.
  • Complete Daily Paperwork, properly documenting all observed details, including maintaining electrical logs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent (advanced degree preferred)
  • 3 or more years of demonstrated experience in an Industrial Maintenance Position
  • Certificate or higher degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field coupled with 1 or more years of Maintenance experience in an Industrial setting
  • 5 or more years of experience in an Operator role at GAF AND actively pursuing Certificate or higher degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field
