Position Overview:
The City of Salinas is seeking applications for the temporary role of Park Maintenance Aide. This position involves performing essential park maintenance tasks across various city parks and recreational facilities.

Temporary employees are limited to a maximum of 25 work hours per week and 1,000 work hours within a fiscal year.

Key Responsibilities:
The Park Maintenance Aide will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to:

• Removing litter and cleaning restrooms
• Preparing athletic fields for events
• Maintaining irrigation systems and performing general landscape upkeep
• Pruning, painting, and removing graffiti
• Operating small power equipment safely

Qualifications:
Knowledge:
Familiarity with landscape maintenance tools, equipment, and materials is essential.

Skills:
The ability to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods is required.

Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with experience in landscape maintenance or a related labor position that involves the use of small power tools.

Licenses:
A valid California Class C Driver's License is necessary.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
Applicants must possess the physical stamina to stand and walk for long durations, navigate uneven terrain, and lift up to 80 pounds. Additionally, candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate mental acuity for problem-solving and decision-making.

Working Conditions:
This role requires performing heavy manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, wind, and rain. Employees may also work with potentially hazardous substances.
