Position Overview:
The City of Salinas is seeking candidates for the temporary role of Park Maintenance Aide. This position involves performing essential maintenance tasks at various parks and recreational facilities.

Temporary employees are limited to a maximum of 25 work hours per week and 1,000 work hours per fiscal year.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Park Maintenance Aide, your duties will include but are not limited to:

• Removing litter and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms.
• Preparing athletic fields for events.
• Conducting irrigation, pruning, and general landscape upkeep.
• Operating small power tools and equipment safely.
• Implementing safe work practices at all times.

Qualifications:
Knowledge:
Familiarity with landscape maintenance tools and safe operational practices.

Skills:
Ability to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred, along with experience in landscape maintenance or related fields.

Licenses:
Must possess a valid California Class C Driver's License.

Physical Requirements:
Must have the physical stamina to stand, walk, and perform labor-intensive tasks in various weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and operate tools effectively is essential.

Working Conditions:
Work will primarily be outdoors, requiring adaptability to changing weather and environmental conditions. Safety protocols must be followed to mitigate exposure to hazardous materials.
