Purpose and Scope

This position plays a critical role in administering therapeutic radiation to patients, ensuring accurate localization procedures, and providing education and support to patients and their families. The incumbent is responsible for evaluating and prioritizing tasks, demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, and meeting standards of quality as measured by the unit/department age-specific competency standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer prescribed therapeutic radiation doses to predetermined treatment areas
  • Perform localization procedures necessary for preparing patients for radiation treatments
  • Provide education and support to cancer patients and their families
  • Assist in onboarding new team members and educate students
  • Operate linear accelerators and simulators
  • Manage electronic health records, record and verify system, and other software programs within the department
Requirements
  • Annual demonstration of proficiency in body mechanics, fire safety, infection control, patient safety, and CPR
  • Completion of annual core competencies, specific to department workflow, to work on completion of the Core RT Competency and the Development Ladder
Working Environment

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy in all tasks. The incumbent must be able to operate complex equipment, manage multiple responsibilities, and provide exceptional patient care.
