Specimen Processor

Bayone is seeking a highly skilled Specimen Processor to join our team. As a key member of our anatomic pathology department, you will play a critical role in preparing surgical specimens for histologic processing.
Responsibilities:- Prepare surgical specimens for histologic processing, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Ensure accurate specimen accessioning and labeling, maintaining the integrity of the specimen and patient identification.
- Describe gross anatomic features of routine and non-routine surgical specimens, highlighting lesions, markings, and sutures.
- Escalate complex specimens to Pathologist Assistants as needed.
- Record measurements, weight, volume, and abnormal findings as applicable.
- Dissect surgical specimens and prepare tissues for histologic processing.
- May be trained to perform basic histology functions, including embedding, microtomy, and routine and special stains.
- Complete all associated paperwork and follow laboratory procedures.
- Interact directly with pathologists regarding gross dissection/description activities.
- Identify and address potential issues affecting test performance or reporting of test results.
- Ensure compliance with corporate safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
- A.A., A.S., B.A., or B.S. degree or equivalent training and experience.
- 3 months to 1 year of histology and/or surgical gross experience preferred.
- Meets all requirements as outlined in corporate Minimum Qualifications for Personnel Performing Tissue Gross Examinations SOP and 1988 CLIA CFR.
- Overnight shifts.
- 1 year of experience is highly preferred.
Contract to hire after minimum hours met.
Hours Per Week: 40.00
