Kitchen Porter

Rise Richmond is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kitchen Porter to join our team at Rise Academy. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of our students by providing nutritious meals and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

• Prepare and serve meals to students, adhering to health and safety regulations
• Wash and sanitize dishes, equipment, and utensils, ensuring a clean and hygienic kitchen
• Support the Nutrition Coordinator in managing inventory, receiving deliveries, and maintaining kitchen supplies
• Assist with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, and cutting ingredients
• Set up tables and chairs as needed, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Coordinator and Director of Operations

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to read and follow instructions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Faith in Jesus Christ, affirming the Apostles' Creed as lived out in a faith community

• Experience serving food, especially in a school setting
• Experience working with youth
• First Aid and CPR certification
• ServSafe certification

• Part-time, hourly position
• Non-exempt (eligible for overtime)
• $12 - $15 per hour
• 10 hours per week
• Monday through Thursday, 11:45am - 1:45pm, and Friday, 11:00am - 1:00pm

• VA State Police Criminal Records Check, including fingerprinting
• VA Department of Social Services Child Registry Search (Abuse/Neglect of children)
• Frequent standing and use of hands and arms
• Must be able to lift up to 30lbs
• Frequent bending and twisting from the waist
• Mask-wearing when required
