Overview

Bryan Health seeks a seasoned Healthcare Operations Manager to lead our team in delivering exceptional patient care. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for modeling the core values of our organization and serving as a resource person to staff.

Responsibilities

  • Represent management and supervise staff during off-shift hours, making administrative decisions that involve patients, their families, and KRMC personnel.
  • Maintain a global perspective to inform decision-making and coordinate the utilization of resources, including staff and equipment.
  • Enhance quality of care by acting as a consultant and mentor for patients at the bedside.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding staff and clinical situations as needed.
  • Contribute to an environment that promotes staff empowerment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Charge Nurses to manage room placement for admitted patients.
  • Adequately assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques and educating patients and families on pain management.
  • Continuously adjust staffing levels to meet care needs during assigned shifts.
  • Interact with department directors/managers and physicians on various issues.
  • Maintain a global perspective to meet and coordinate the needs of multiple departments.
  • Daily communication with Care Management regarding admissions and dismissals to various units.
  • Consult other departments as needed to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient/facility needs.
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by adjusting staffing levels within budget constraints.
  • Ensure staff has necessary tools for care; provide supplies when 24-hour departments are unavailable.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stressful conditions.
  • Identify changes in patient symptoms, support Charge and Primary Nurses, and take timely action.
  • Counsel and manage personnel issues (excluding appraisals) in absence of management.
  • Maintain effective communication with multiple departments for patient benefit.
  • Fill staffing gaps as needed (e.g., assist PACU afterhours, ER influx, start difficult IVs, pass medications).
  • Recognize and manage impaired staffing behaviors in absence of management.
  • Balance staffing needs between units.
  • Makes informed decisions reflecting knowledge of facts, diseases/surgical conditions, required care, and good judgment.
  • Notify administration of issues beyond scope requiring further investigation.
  • Utilize initiative; maintain productivity level; self-starter; compatible and supportive; team player.
  • Screen patients by comparing condition to admission criteria; evaluate and accept or reject patients; refer patients and family to other programs/institutions; appropriately place patients.
  • Resolve patient/family dissatisfactions by investigating concerns; recommend changes in service policies/procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited nursing school; BSN or current enrollment in BSN program preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in Nebraska.
  • Current ACLS and BCLS certification.
  • PALS certification within one year of employment.
  • At least two years of charge nurse experience preferred.
  • At least two years of critical care nursing experience preferred.

Estimated Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on qualifications and location.
