Job Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as a Before/After School Counselor at the Westfield Area YMCA.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a safe and engaging environment for school-age children (K-5th) at our locations in Westfield, Garwood, or Mountainside.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and executing daily activities, including outdoor play and fire drills.
  • Set up the classroom for activities in a safe manner.
  • Transport children by bus, as needed, following bus policy and procedures.
  • Help plan free play and learning center activities.
  • Use positive reinforcement and ensure a fun and safe environment for all participants.
Requirements
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Basic experience working with children preferred.
  • Ability to work as a team with other YMCA staff members.

  • Starting at $15.25 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.
