The Department of Rhetoric and Writing Studies at San Diego State University is seeking qualified candidates for a lecturer pool in the College of Arts and Letters. We are looking for temporary faculty with expertise or experience in the following areas:

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Rhetoric and Writing Studies, including first-year composition, advanced composition, technical communication, professional writing, and business writing
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with departmental goals and objectives
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to students
  • Participate in departmental service and committee work

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Rhetoric and Writing Studies or closely related field
  • University teaching experience
  • Demonstrated currency in subject matter
  • Demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in a higher education setting
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Experience with curriculum development and implementation
