Job Overview

Position Summary: The Logistics Receiving Specialist is responsible for executing a range of standard shipping and receiving functions. This role involves verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against purchase orders, invoices, or other relevant documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Receive and unload incoming shipments, ensuring that the details on the packing slip align with the purchase order to confirm shipment accuracy; may handle return shipments from clients.
  2. Sort, count, package, label, insure, unpack, and log received inventory.
  3. Inspect shipments for any damages or defects; document discrepancies or damages and inform the supervisor or purchasing staff.
  4. Deliver items to requesting departments and secure authorized signatures for received goods.
  5. Maintain departmental databases, generate routine reports, and organize receiving records.
  6. Operate equipment such as dollies, pallet jacks, and forklifts for loading and unloading supplies; may also use a shrink wrap machine and assist with the maintenance of equipment and the receiving area.
  7. Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, including continuous quality improvement and safety standards.
  8. Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, promoting ongoing improvements in workplace safety and environmental practices.
  9. Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to prepare standard administrative documentation.
  • Understanding and enforcement of safety protocols.
  • Capability to identify issues and communicate relevant information to appropriate personnel.
  • Proficiency in sorting, checking, counting, and verifying numerical data.
  • Experience in receiving, tracking, and distributing materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • High school diploma or GED; 2 to 5 years of experience in a shipping/receiving environment; familiarity with Microsoft Excel.

Training Requirements:

  • Forklift certification.
  • Hazardous communication training.
  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) training.
