Job Summary

The University of Colorado is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Ventures and Product Development to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to drive innovation and create impactful ventures in pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostic, and digital health technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate an environment that promotes the creation of high-value venture companies.
  • Expand upon the organizational infrastructure for CU Innovations Ventures programming.
  • Supervise the day-to-day functioning of grant programs such as the SPARK program.
  • Help build project plans and milestones for selected teams in collaboration with program mentors and outside experts.
  • Plan and execute activities for the ventures programming, including extensive coordination, planning, and communication.
  • Help faculty to identify CROs to work with and assist with the preparation of relevant documents ahead of interactions with regulatory agencies or investors.
  • Connect selected teams to product development experts and as these teams form startups, help identify business partners and investors for them.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in chemistry, pharmacology, biochemistry, biology, genetics, biomedical engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years or professional experience working in similar roles, including experience in product development in biotechnology, venture development, working with academic investigators, and developing and implementing project plans.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in chemistry, pharmacology, biochemistry, biology, genetics, biomedical engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years or professional experience working in similar roles, including experience in product development in biotechnology, venture development, working with academic investigators, and developing and implementing project plans.
  • MBA.
  • Post-doctoral fellowship or instructor experience.
  • Product development experience in large biotechnology corporations.
  • Previous experience running an academic incubator program advancing faculty ventures.
