Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) team at GE Aviation. Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Take a lead role in architecting, designing, and developing embedded software for IVHM products, ensuring adherence to GE's stringent processes and the DO-178C standard.
  • Continuous Integration and Testing: Oversee continuous software integration and testing processes to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify software failures and implement effective solutions, thereby ensuring the robustness of IVHM solutions.
  • Mentorship: Act as a mentor and resource for less experienced team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
Requirements
  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Professional Experience: At least 6 years of experience in embedded software development, with a minimum of 2 years working specifically with DO-178C software development processes and certification standards. Additionally, at least 2 years of experience in C coding is required.
  • Citizenship: Due to the sensitive nature of the work, which involves U.S. Government contracts, this position is open only to U.S. citizens, with GE requiring proof of status prior to employment.
Desired Characteristics
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, coupled with excellent oral and written communication abilities, are essential for this role. The ability to lead both global and virtual teams is particularly valued.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in project management, encompassing cost, schedule, earned value, scope, and risk management, is desired. This skill set is crucial for leading projects to successful completion within the allocated resources and timelines.
  • Specialized Experience: Experience with DO-178C DAL B is highly desirable, indicating a deeper understanding of the stringent requirements for software that operates at a high level of safety criticality.
