Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Technologist to join our team at Akron Children's Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the daily organization and oversight of work activities, providing technical assistance and training to staff and students, and ensuring the accuracy of testing.

Responsibilities
  • Perform staff Medical Technologist duties, including collecting and processing biological specimens.
  • Assist in the daily organization and oversight of work activities, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide technical assistance, training, and leadership to staff and students, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Verify the competency of staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Establish and maintain documentation of quality control and performance improvement programs, ensuring that all necessary procedures are in place.
  • Provide technical oversight to testing, ensuring that all results are accurate and reliable.
  • Assist in the daily organization, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Establish, review, and document quality control and quality assurance programs, ensuring that all necessary procedures are in place.
  • Provide leadership to technical staff, including orientation and training, to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as medical technology or a related field.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) at the MT/MLS level or grandfather at the MT/MLS level prior to 2004.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in a clinical laboratory setting, including recent experience in multiple laboratory disciplines.
  • Experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist is required.
  • Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience supervising.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position, working onsite at Akron Children's Hospital.
