Advanced Practice Provider - Radiation Oncology

The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) specializing in Radiation Oncology to join our dedicated team.


The successful candidate will be expected to deliver exceptional patient care at our facility, with a focus on both inpatient and outpatient settings. A minimum of one year of experience as an APP in a hospital environment or two years in an outpatient context is preferred.

We value candidates who exhibit strong emotional intelligence, adaptability, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience in oncology or radiation oncology is advantageous but not mandatory.


Position Overview:
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assessment:
    Conduct thorough initial and ongoing evaluations, recognizing both normal and abnormal health indicators. Manage patient care inquiries and perform clinical assessments for unscheduled patients.
  2. Planning:
    Develop and oversee radiation treatment plans, ensuring appropriate care is delivered in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  3. Implementation:
    Order necessary consultations and diagnostic tests, ensuring compliance with institutional protocols. Maintain radiation safety standards and manage therapeutic interventions.
  4. Evaluation:
    Integrate current research into practice to enhance quality care and review diagnostic results.
  5. Documentation:
    Accurately record clinical findings and treatment plans in the medical records, ensuring compliance with all guidelines.
  6. Communication:
    Utilize effective communication skills to manage patient situations and advocate for client needs.
  7. Education and Professional Development:
    Stay informed on clinical practices and provide education to patients and families regarding health promotion and disease management.

Supervision:
The APP will report directly to the assigned physicians for clinical duties and to the APP Supervisor for administrative tasks.

Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program or a Master's Degree in Nursing for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses.
Experience:
Preferred: At least one year of clinical experience as an APP in a hospital setting or two years in outpatient care.
Licensure/Certification:
Must hold relevant certifications and licenses as required by the state of Texas.
