Work Schedule

This role is primarily expected to be performed onsite, with the option for one day of remote work each week. Local and regional travel is necessary, and some evening and weekend commitments may be required.

Role Summary

The Admissions Specialist plays a crucial role in designing and executing recruitment strategies, outreach efforts, and projects related to the admissions process for Minnesota Independence College and Community (MICC) Programs. The goal is to meet enrollment targets effectively. This position entails some travel responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, track, and achieve annual recruitment objectives for designated programs, ensuring consistent follow-up with prospects and maintaining organized tracking systems.
  • Organize and execute recruitment initiatives to attract and engage potential applicants, including participation in local and regional events.
  • Facilitate organizational growth by assessing and refining the admissions and enrollment processes for prospective participants.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to establish best practices within the Admissions department.
  • Work closely with fellow Admissions team members and staff from various departments.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Primary Duties

  • Effectively communicate the mission and vision of MICC to prospective students, families, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee the admissions pipeline from initial inquiry through to application, utilizing administrative software and strategic communication methods, including in-person meetings, phone calls, direct mail, and digital outreach.
  • Conduct campus tours (both in-person and virtual) for prospective participants, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Guide prospective participants and their families through the admissions process, providing clear and transparent information regarding requirements.
  • Lead and mentor volunteer student ambassadors and develop related programming.
  • Implement and oversee a family ambassador program.
  • Represent MICC at college fairs, recruitment events, and with external partners (this may involve travel during the fall and occasional evening and weekend work).
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to diverse groups of prospective students, families, and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of events aimed at enhancing enrollment, such as campus visits, shadow days, admit days, and orientation activities.
  • Complete routine administrative tasks and reports related to recruitment, enrollment projections, personal scheduling, travel, special programs, and professional development.
  • Generate reports and maintain dashboards as requested by the Admissions Manager.
  • Assist in managing admissions and enrollment documentation.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Non-Profit Administration, Communications, Education, Public Speaking, Marketing, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Two to four years of relevant work experience, particularly in outreach roles involving public interaction, is required.
  • Must be willing to travel overnight and possess a valid driver's license.
  • A commitment to working in an environment that supports individuals with learning differences and autism is advantageous.
  • Experience with database management and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software is essential.
