Job Title: WGL - Sr Industrial Control Systems Engineer

AltaGas is seeking a highly skilled Sr Industrial Control Systems Engineer to join our team in Washington Gas/WGL. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas by engineering, developing, and securing hardware and software automation and control solutions for Gas Control, Operations Dispatch, and field locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and implement technologies and system architectures to maintain and enhance the cyber security and reliability of the ICS environment.
  • Use in-depth knowledge of process control systems, communication infrastructure, and information systems to evaluate system vulnerabilities within the ICS environment.
  • Develop and maintain an accurate software and firmware management database of the ICS environment to minimize cyber risk.
  • Determine what software updates and firmware updates are required and appropriate through testing and documented analysis.
  • Develop, validate, and document procedures for testing and applying software and firmware updates.
  • Analyze ICS networks to determine cyber risks and provide solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities and improve cyber security posture.
  • Troubleshoot ICS networks to resolve communications problems.
  • Troubleshoot SCADA applications and PLC programs to resolve operational problems.
  • Test and evaluate cyber security vulnerabilities within SCADA applications, PLCs, and RTUs.
  • Program PLCs and RTUs using vendor-specific industrial programming languages for automation of Gate Station control and monitoring of flow, pressure, temperature, and odorization of natural gas, as well as Plant; controlling and monitoring of compressors, boilers, pumps, valves, for peak shaving operations.
  • Program SCADA applications and HMIs using vendor-specific programming languages to provide a graphical interface to the gas distribution system.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of related experience with industrial control systems required.
  • Extensive knowledge of SCADA applications, PLC hardware, and PLC programming required.
  • Extensive knowledge of process control and measurement theory, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical instrumentation systems required.
  • Proven capability to troubleshoot complex ICS equipment and processes required.
  • Proven capability to communicate ICS operational functional requirements and operation to internal and external stakeholders required.
  • Working knowledge of control systems in natural gas and propane processing, storage, and handling facilities preferred.
  • Experience with network technologies, cyber security, Windows Servers, relational databases preferred.
  • Must be available to serve on-call on a rotating schedule.

AltaGas offers a competitive salary range of $103,000.00 to $141,250.00 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
