About the Role
At HDR, we're seeking a skilled Transportation Engineer to join our team as a key member of a highway/roadway design team. As a Transportation Engineer, you will work on moderate to large-sized projects, and independently on smaller projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in project management for larger projects or manage moderate to smaller projects.
- Prepare or oversee roadway/highway design work using local or AASHTO standards, including horizontal and vertical alignment, roadway sections, intersection layout, and sight distance determination.
- Use 3D modeling software to aid in developing and reviewing designs.
- Prepare and oversee contract plans, specifications, and estimates, including roadway sections, alignment/right of way plans, temporary erosion control plans, site preparation plans, and utility plans.
- Assist in preparing scopes, budgets, and schedules, and communicate with clients, support and advise junior engineers and technical staff, write reports and technical memos, and coordinate with sub-consultants.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Hands-on experience with highways and roads CAD engineering software, such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer, and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.
- MS Office knowledge.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, and preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout, and CAD base alignment plans.
