Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and supervise construction contracts on primary routes
  • Maintain effective staff and daily operations
  • Ensure contractors adhere to plans, specifications, and standards requirements
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve technical issues of department policies and regulations
  • Evaluate and manage accurate Traffic Control Standards
  • Review and approve staff audits and as-built records
  • Act as a liaison with Iowa Department of Transportation staff, government officials, contractors, media, and the public
  • Assist the Office of Design by collecting field data and providing input to be used in plan preparation
Requirements
  • Three years of full-time professional work experience in transportation engineering or civil engineering, one year of which must have included project management or lead work responsibilities
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes two years of full-time work as a Transportation Engineer
  • Prior to appointment, applicants must possess active licensure as a professional engineer by the Iowa Engineering & Land Surveying Examining Board
