Job Summary

Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and collaborating with our team of healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons with procedures, maintaining aseptic techniques and adhering to universal precautions.
  • Coordinate treatments with other disciplines, ensuring seamless patient care.
  • Provide basic patient assistance, connecting patients to clinical equipment as needed.
  • Prepare and verify all specimens obtained during surgical procedures.
  • Dispose of linens, needles, and sharps in appropriate containers, maintaining a safe environment.
  • Assess wounds and apply or change sterile dressings as instructed by registered nurses.
  • Document patient information, maintaining accurate records.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, ensuring 24/7 coverage.
  • Act as a preceptor for students assigned to the surgical unit, sharing knowledge and expertise.
Requirements
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
