Job DescriptionWe're seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Wildfire Damage Modeling Engineer to join our Boston-based team. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for developing and enhancing damage estimation by wildfire for insurance portfolios. Your expertise will be crucial in incorporating knowledge of wildfire mitigation, insurance regulations, and state legislation into our models.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Analyzing wildfire data to build a solid foundation for wildfire damage and loss estimation
- Building vulnerability models to assess damage to buildings, infrastructures, and industrial facilities subjected to wildfires and wildfire smoke
- Processing simulation outputs and large experimental datasets, performing statistical analysis to validate model components and overall performance
- Running large-scale simulations on AWS and managing cloud-based computational resources efficiently
- Presenting findings and models to technical and non-technical audiences, and providing support to clients and staff as needed
- Contributing to technical writing for internal and external publications
We're looking for a researcher with a strong technical background in science, engineering, or mathematics, who is passionate about learning and growing expertise in new areas.
