Job Title: Patient Registrar at St. Bernards Healthcare
- POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Completion of High School along with relevant Health Care coursework or equivalent practical training specific to Hospital or Medical Office functions.
- Experience: At least one (1) year of experience in a healthcare environment is preferred. Must demonstrate proficient skills in computer usage, written and verbal communication, telephone etiquette, cash handling, and customer service. Requires six (6) months of on-the-job training to achieve job competency. Orientation and training are tailored to specific age groups.
- Physical: This role is classified as safety-sensitive. Refer to the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for additional details. The position is set in a standard hospital environment. Requires normal or corrected vision, hearing within a standard range, frequent mobility, ability to push wheelchairs weighing up to 350 pounds, and sitting for approximately 50% of the time. Operates FAX machines, card embossers, imprinting devices, copiers, printers, and utilizes computer terminals; occasional lifting, climbing stairs, and carrying items up to 50 pounds is necessary; involves direct interaction with patients.
- POSITION SUMMARY
- Facilitates the smooth and organized registration of patients, ensuring that precise patient information is gathered and that individuals are informed about hospital policies and procedures. Responsible for maintaining patient demographics that are crucial for the preparation of records and reports utilized in operational decision-making. Engages with and has access to confidential patient data. The role necessitates frequent decision-making or actions in accordance with general procedures, often without clearly defined guidelines. A high level of mental alertness and meticulous attention to detail is required. The position demands professionalism and diplomacy when interacting with patients, families, visitors, medical personnel, and St. Bernards staff, as the registrar serves as the initial point of contact for customers. Responsibilities include registration across various areas under the supervision of the Admissions Manager.
