Job Summary:

The Staff Nurse - Neurology position at Temple University is a dynamic opportunity for a registered nurse to join our team in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine's Department of Neurology. As a Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, efficient medical care to adult patients in the ALS-Neuromuscular Program in an outpatient setting.

You will be responsible for day-to-day activities surrounding clinical research studies and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university regulations. This is a grant-funded position, and the ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and experience working with patients with neurological or related disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide and/or coordinate timely direct and indirect patient care services in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and obtain patient history and vital signs
  • Administer injections, blood draws, IVs, and medications, and maintain records of vital statistics and other pertinent patient data in the EMR system
  • Field and triage patient telephone calls regarding medication changes, clinical status, prescription renewals, and changes in condition
  • Provide individual assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help identify and overcome barriers to quality medical patient care
  • Educate and counsel patients and families, and keep assigned patient logs up to date, including infusions
  • Obtain required pre-cert or prior authorization to ensure timely approvals of patients' complex treatments and drugs
  • Coordinate with the RN-Clinical Research Nurse to facilitate the recruitment, screening, and enrollment of patients for clinical trials

Requirements:

  • Professional licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of PA
  • Demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and nursing competence
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use an electronic medical record system
  • Proven organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to operate all standard office equipment and software, including MS Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Experience working with patients with neurological or related disorders
