Neurology Staff Nurse

The RN-Staff/Clinical Nurse, in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine's Department of Neurology, will play a vital role in delivering high-quality medical care to an adult patient population in the ALS-Neuromuscular Program in an outpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide and/or coordinate timely direct and indirect patient care services in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and obtain patient history and vital signs.
- Administer injections, blood draws, IVs, and medications, and maintain records of vital statistics and other pertinent patient data in the EMR system.
- Field and triage patient telephone calls regarding medication changes, clinical status, prescription renewals, and changes in condition.
- Provide individual assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help identify and overcome barriers that may hinder quality medical patient care.
- Educate and counsel patients and families, and keep assigned patient logs up to date, including infusions.
- Obtain required pre-cert or prior authorization to ensure timely approvals of patients' complex treatments and drugs.
- Coordinate with the RN-Clinical Research Nurse to facilitate the recruitment, screening, and enrollment of patients for clinical trials.
- Professional licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of PA.
- Demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and nursing competence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to use an electronic medical record system.
- Proven organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail, and the ability to operate all standard office equipment and software, including MS Office.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Experience working with patients with neurological or related disorders.
