Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Flight Operations Support Specialist to join our team at Air Education and Training Command. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our flight training operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct aircrew members to scheduled simulator missions and maintain records in support of training and equipment.
  • Support flying training operations by compiling and maintaining records related to aircrew training and simulator utilization.
  • Enter data and/or information into an automated system.
  • Receive and direct telephone calls or visitors.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of clerical procedures and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will also need to have excellent communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

Applicants must have at least one year of general experience, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of general experience include progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position.

Education may be substituted for experience. Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university may be used to qualify for this position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of the policies, practices, and procedures of the full range of standard clerical responsibilities related to supporting flight training and simulator operations.
  • Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and maintain aircrew information and equipment records and/or logs for training devices.
  • Knowledge of filing systems and procedures and the subject matter content of the materials being processed.
  • Skill in basic computer operations to include retrieval and input of data.
  • Ability to recognize source documents used and to associate those documents with the appropriate program controls and transcribing procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy.
