Position Overview
As a Public Transit Operator, you will be responsible for driving a transit bus through both urban and rural settings. Your role will include assisting passengers with disabilities and ensuring their safe and comfortable travel experience. You will conduct routine inspections of the bus and operate various equipment related to passenger transport. Additionally, you may be required to perform dispatch duties at designated times and maintain cleanliness and light upkeep of the buses.

Essential Qualifications
1) A high school diploma or equivalent;

2) A valid MN Class C Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsements, or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.

(Transit bus will be provided for CDL Driving Exam)
3) Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening (continued compliance with Federal CDL regulations regarding drug testing is mandatory)

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive transit bus in various community areas
  • Assist passengers in boarding and alighting as necessary or requested
  • Utilize bus equipment, including wheelchair lifts, two-way radios, tablets, and fire extinguishers, among others
Work Schedule
Hours may range from 12 to 28 per week based on operational needs

Compensation and Benefits
The pay scale for this role is $28.25 per hour, commensurate with experience.

This position comes with a comprehensive benefits package, including a state pension plan, vacation time, sick leave, personal days, and holiday leave, as per the relevant union agreement.
