About the Role

Burns & McDonnell is a leading engineering, architecture, and construction company with a strong presence in the mission-critical data center sector. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Plumbing Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and delivery of world-class projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead plumbing design project teams to create efficient and effective designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution and meet client requirements.
  • Develop and implement plumbing equipment specifications, data sheets, and technical bid summaries.
  • Review and approve plumbing equipment vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in project schedule, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning, and manage change orders effectively.
  • Apply expert knowledge of industry-standard plumbing practices, principles, codes, and procedures within the MEP AE services industry.
  • Develop and implement quality review processes for production drawings and specifications.
  • Lead field inspections, installation, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, customers, and contractors to ensure customer satisfaction and drive business growth.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 7 years of plumbing engineering experience, with a strong background in project management and leadership.
  • Expert knowledge of plumbing equipment design codes (ASPE, IPC, UPC) and strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible schedule to travel locally and across the country.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License and Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) certification preferred.
