Welding Operations Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: The Welding Lead oversees and directs the operations within the welding department, providing support to the Welding Supervisor. This role involves making critical decisions regarding production timelines and addressing quality concerns as they arise. The individual must ensure a safe and organized workspace while managing production tasks effectively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and implement improvements as necessary.
- Assist the supervisor in balancing daily resources and staffing needs.
- Set up workstations and approve initial piece inspections.
- Initiate production lines each day and lead team discussions.
- Participate in production activities and fill in for team members as required.
- Maintain organized inventory and ensure materials and tools are available on the production line.
- Track performance metrics and maintain visual metric displays.
- Submit maintenance requests as needed.
- Meet production deadlines, provide employee training, maintain documentation, and address workforce concerns in collaboration with HR and management.
- Support Continuous Improvement and Lean initiatives (5S).
- Foster a quality-focused environment that meets and exceeds client expectations.
- First Aid/CPR certification is recommended.
- Additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Preferred prior experience in a supervisory or lead role.
- At least one year of experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exhibit a positive demeanor and maintain professionalism.
- Ability to work effectively both in teams and independently.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to address issues effectively.
- Physical capability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and walk for extended periods.
- Proficient in computer usage.
