About the Role
The Security Operations Analyst is responsible for overseeing and managing a sophisticated CCTV surveillance system to safeguard the assets of CarMax locations nationwide. This role involves effective communication with local law enforcement and store personnel to ensure prompt resolution of incidents. The individual will assist store staff with CCTV-related concerns and collaborate with team members on a rotating shift basis. Please note that this position requires overnight shift work.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor advanced security technology to protect CarMax assets across various locations.
- Respond to a continuous stream of system alerts from multiple technologies, including video analytics. Assess activities swiftly to determine if they may be criminal and decide on appropriate actions, such as making announcements or contacting law enforcement.
- Follow up with law enforcement and management to resolve all issues related to incidents effectively.
- Document all incidents thoroughly in the company's case management system.
- Address burglar alarm system alerts as reported by third-party monitoring services. Analyze CCTV footage to distinguish between criminal activity and false alarms.
- Assist store managers by reviewing live activity and providing support with CCTV and security guard coverage when necessary.
- Conduct daily audits to ensure the functionality of video and security technology.
- Maintain security equipment and report any issues requiring attention.
- Support internal partners and vendors to resolve security equipment-related issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

The Security Operations Analyst serves as a resource for other associates seeking guidance on security and safety matters during incidents.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are indicative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- A college degree is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in Loss Prevention, Security, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions with minimal supervision.
- High ethical standards are essential.
- Availability to work overnight shifts on weekends is required.
