Position Summary:The Systems Architect collaborates with the Systems Administration Manager to deliver comprehensive support for all aspects of systems and data center management. This includes installation, configuration, design, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of production, development, and testing environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish and configure new servers within a virtual framework.
- Oversee system performance and proactively identify potential issues.
- Conduct regular backups and implement effective disaster recovery strategies.
- Enforce security measures to protect systems and sensitive data.
- Engage in capacity planning for the infrastructure.
- Document current and new infrastructure setups, procedures, configurations, and architectural diagrams.
- Work alongside DBA and Development teams to troubleshoot issues and evaluate future growth and capacity needs.
- Diagnose and resolve virtualization-related system challenges and performance concerns.
- Perform troubleshooting on production servers during off-hours as necessary.
- Execute hardware upgrades and replacements.
- Maintain OS-level security and apply necessary patches.
- Research and stay updated on emerging technologies relevant to our environment.
- Communicate effectively with customers, users, and external vendors as required.
- Carry out additional related duties as assigned.
- Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical documents and reports.
- Strong grasp of server administration principles for both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Advanced knowledge of server technologies and hardware, including Windows Server, Hypervisors, Active Directory, TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS.
- Experience in scripting and automation using tools like PowerShell.
- Solid understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Thorough knowledge of network configurations in virtual settings.
- Experience in optimizing backup solutions for virtual machines.
- Ability to address inquiries or concerns from customers and regulatory bodies.
- Valid driver's license and auto liability insurance are required.
- Willingness to travel occasionally with overnight stays.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and five to seven years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
