Job Title: School Counselor - Intermediate

Conroe Independent School District is seeking a qualified School Counselor - Intermediate to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the District Development Guidance Plan, responding to the unique needs of individual students, and providing guidance and support to students, parents, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a campus-level Counselor Action Plan based on identified school needs and the TEA Developmental Guidance plan.
  • Assist individual students in demonstrating self-confidence in reaching educational goals.
  • Confer with students, parents, and teachers as needed.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Assist with student classroom and program placement.
  • Serve as a resource for students, parents, and staff members to access community resources.
  • Assist with testing programs and coordinate grade level transitions.
  • Refer students with special needs and provide educational placement support.
  • Provide orientation sessions for parents and students.
  • Develop college and career awareness activities.
  • Meet deadlines and adhere to timelines and procedures.
  • Maintain student data records and calendar schedules.
  • Participate in District in-service and staff meetings.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote positive relationships and a supportive learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in School Counseling or a related field.
  • Professional teacher's certificate and professional school counselor's certificate.
  • Two or more years of successful teaching experience.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to instruct students to develop psychosocial skills.
  • Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and college and career awareness.
Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district travel and prolonged and irregular hours may be required.
